Wondering what to get for the photography lover on your list? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Here are 10 creative gift ideas that they’ll actually use and love!
1// Peak Designs Camera Clip
I remember the first time I saw this magnificent piece of gear.
I was watching one of my favourite landscape photographers on Youtube. This time though, something was different. Somehow it looked like his camera was magically floating on his backpack strap!
Then, he effortlessly grabbed the camera and snapped a beautiful shot of a bear searching for crab along the beach.
Immediately I thought back to my trip to Hornby Island just over a year ago. I missed a once-in-a-lifetime shot of three grey whales breaching the surface because I was fumbling around trying to get my camera out of my camera bag.
Needless to say, this Peak Designs Camera Clip was my next photography purchase and it comes with me on every adventure.
On top of being super intuitive to use, it’s compact, so it doesn’t get in my way when I’m scrambling on all fours up the mountain… literally…. I’m not the most graceful at the end of a long hike.
Oh and the base is compatible with most Arca-type tripods as well. Bonus!
I bought the V3 Camera Clip. They have limited stock of this one but man oh man, I wouldn’t be without it.
2// Canvas Camera Bag
Even though it doesn’t really look like a camera bag, it is! Shoulder slung camera bags always looks so cool and they’re efficient too!
There are lots of other options like the vintage messenger or all-leather. They’re a little more expensive than this canvas bag but it’s nice to have options.
What’s great about these bags is that they provide easy access to the camera gear. They’re also great for swapping out lenses because you don’t even have to put the bag down to do it!

3// Custom Camera Strap
Here’s a short and sweet one.
There are a number of great companies that offer custom text on the camera strap. What I love about this is that it definitely makes for a unique gift. Check out Fotostrap for example.
If you’re interested in supporting a company with a wonderful backstory, this is the one. Plus, in addition to focussing on quality and stellar customer service, their products are 100% American made.
4// Portable External Hard Drive
Knowing your photos are safe truly make these worth their weight in gold!
What I love most about using these external hard drives is that by saving the photos here, I don’t bog down my computer. I usually have two of these going at once just for peace of mind and I know my photos are safe.
Both the 2 TB Seagate and 2 TB WD External Hard Drives are great.
I would recommend going with the 2 TB as it’s a good size and will take a while to fill up for the average photographer.

5// Adobe Photography Plan
This one I’d say is the best bang for your buck!
It’s really difficult to spend money on yourself, especially after purchasing an expensive camera. But by having the right tools, like Photoshop and Lightroom, it’s easy to fall in love with photography.
Adobe has a great plan that I use almost every day and it’s called the Adobe Photography Plan. This plan includes both Photoshop and Lightroom as well as 20 GB of cloud storage.
Before getting this subscription, I had always just used one time purchase versions of Photoshop. The thing is though, it always seemed to outdate itself after a couple of years.
What I love about the Adobe Photography Plan is that as new versions of Photoshop or Lightroom come out, I get instant access to them.
There are so many perks to having a subscription to Photoshop; like having updated lens correction models, incredible cloning capabilities to make someone’s Mickey Mouse ears disappear in your photo of Cinderella’s Castle, and the list goes on!

6// Peak Designs Accessory Pouch
I can’t tell you how nice it is to have everything organized inside the camera bag.
Things like cables, batteries, remotes, memory cards, filters, a small notebook and pen all go in this bag and there’s never a worry as to where anything is.

7// Fujifilm Instax 11
There is no sweeter gratification like seeing a photo printed instantaneously!
Capturing those candid moments are so incredibly special and this is just a fun way to do just that.
I’d recommend going with the Fujifilm Instax 11 as compared to the Fujifilm Instax 9 as the exposure is way better! Plus it has a mirror next to the lens to make sure the framing is right for those sweet and silly selfie shots.
8// Photography Idea Cards
Let’s face it. It’s not always easy to stay creative and inspired with photography!
These idea cards are just one easy way to keep the momentum and inspiration strong.

9// Studio Light Box
With all this time we’ve been spending at home lately, it’s nice to be able to pick up new hobbies and strengthen skills.
Product photography is one way to do just that. With the Studio Light Box being so easy to set up with not a lot of extra parts and collapsable, it’s a great tool to have on hand that doesn’t take up much space and is quick and easy to get started with.
Check out the Studio Light Box here.
10// The Digital Photography Book
For step by step instructions on how to make photos look like the pros, this is the book to get!
Scott Kelby has a number of other fantastic resources to check out like Photoshop Elements 2020 for Photographers and the Natural Light Portrait Book but for a one stop shop resource to help improve photography skills, the Digital Photography Book is the winner.
